Summary of the 30th Ion channel meeting in Sète, France

by Albano C. Meli and Arnaud Monteil (Chairman of the "Association Canaux Ioniques")

In September, the 30th Ion channel meeting of the Ion Channels association was held in Sète (France).

Since 1989, the Ion Channels association chaired by Dr. Arnaud Monteil (IGF, Montpellier) organizes a yearly meeting which aims to gather the international scientific community working on all aspects of Ion channels in several areas of biology including Neurosciences, Physiology and Cancer. This meeting allows international academics, students, as well as scientists from the pharmaceutical industry to share their latest advances in a relaxed but nonetheless studious atmosphere.

The 2019 meeting, organised by Dr. Bruno Constantin (STIM, Poitiers) was the opportunity to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the association.

This year, around 130 young and senior researchers met between 8-11 September. Five awards were offered to the young scientist community for best poster presentations and best oral presentations. A flash talk session was also organized for poster presenters. This session allows PhD students to promote their PhD thesis topic in a short presentation of 60 seconds. The best one also received an award.

The next meeting of Ion Channel association will be held 6-9 September 2020, in Sète (France).
