Ok, got it
Dear Members and colleagues,
As the year draws to a close, we look back on a highly successful year for our WG on Thrombosis. I would like to thank Prof. Bianca Rocca, from whom I took over as Chair, for her enormous dedication and hard work as over the last few years. Under her leadership the group greatly strengthened, with significant increase in membership over the last few years.
Earlier this year, our group published an expert position paper on “Antithrombotic therapy and body mass” in the European Heart Journal, showing how extremes of body weight can affect antithrombotic drugs and cardiovascular risk.
In October, our WG hosted Eurothrombosis 2018 in Barcelona, chaired by Dr Gemma Vilahur and Prof. Lina Badimon. This was a superb conference, exceptionally well-attended, with very high calibre state-of-the-art clinical and translational lectures, attracting both very high-profile international speakers and young dynamic researchers, both from clinical and basic science backgrounds. There was a genuine buzz of energy throughout the conference, with exchange of ideas, collaboration and networking, that kept people in the conference despite the great temptations of Barcelona and the exceptional weather. On behalf of the WG, we welcome our new nucleus members, Prof. Tobias Geisler from Germany and Associate Professor Dániel Aradi from Hungary.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas
Prof. Dirk Sibbing, ESC Working Group on Thrombosis Chairperson
Prof. Diana Gorog, ESC Working Group on Thrombosis Secretary & Web-editor
