ESC Working Group on Myocardial and Pericardial Diseases

Dear Members,

As we are all actively preparing for the recovery of the pandemic, ESC WG on M&P Diseases is setting its objectives for the next 12 months, in keeping with the global ESC priorities. Our objectives include education unrestricted by geographical boundaries, multidirectional scientific communication, generation of good quality clinical and research evidence, broad collaboration within the worldwide cardiology society, engagement of all professionals who contribute to healthcare systems, efficient use of resources. The ultimate aim is the support of high-standards, patient-centered care delivery in the fields of Myocardial and Pericardial Diseases.

In this Newsletter, you also have the opportunity through the paper of the month to learn about how the detailed study of the phenotype - genotype association can unveil new disease mechanisms and susceptibilities and eventually assist in disease modification, risk prevention and outcome improvement.

On behalf of the Working Group nucleus,

 Dr. Antonis Pantazis, Chairperson 2020-2022
