ESC Working Group on Development, Anatomy & Pathology

Dear colleagues,

We have been though some troubled times that none of us could have imagined happening. As a result of the multiple national and international mobility restrictions and activation of health protocols due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our scientific life has significantly changed. It is therefore with deep regret that we have been forced to cancel this year’s ESC WG DAP meeting planned for Bad Nauheim, Germany in October. However, we are already planning our Annual Meeting for 2021, which Thomas Braun and Didier Stainier, organizers of the cancelled 2020 meeting, kindly accepted to organize again.

We are also at the point of elections for Nucleus members, so please look out for the voting email. It is important to know that the ESC has been updating and harmonising its regulations for Working Group Nuclei. General themes are to promote diversity and encourage refreshment and succession planning of nucleus members by fixing the maximum cumulative years of service on the nucleus to 12 years. Perhaps you might want to stand in the next elections in 2022? If so, we can let you know what the job entails and talk in person about it at the 2021 meeting.

Finally, we would like to let you know that the WG Young Community nucleolus is now established comprising of Claudio, Nikita, Guillermo. They would be very pleased to hear from anyone under the age of 40 who want to affiliate and get involved. More on this in the next newsletter!

 Best wishes,

Jose M. Pérez-Pomares

ESC WG DAP Chairperson
