by Albano Meli

In April, the annual “Printemps de la Cardiologie” (Spring of cardiology) was held in Montpellier (France).

The “Printemps de la Cardiologie” is a French annual meeting organized by the GRRC (Group for cardiovascular translational research of the French society of cardiology) where clinicians and scientists in cardiovascular research exchange on their work.

Printemps de cardiologie 2018.PNGWith more than 500 participants and 300 submitted abstracts, it is a particular event promoting young researchers and physicians through oral presentations and posters coming with awards for each session. This year, this congress organized in Montpellier by Dr. Jeremy Fauconnier, one of the founding ESC SoT nucleus member and Prof. Francois Roubille from the CHU of Montpellier, initiated a new international track involving foreign researchers including ESC SoT members Dr. Jyoti Patel, Dr. Anke Smits and Prof. Niels Voigt. In this session young scientists and clinicians presented their work and the best ones received awards from the French Society of Cardiology (SFC), a member of the European Society of Cardiology and the GRRC.

Moreover, the opening lecture given by Prof. Barbara Casadei, president elect of the ESC, former chair of the CBCS, demonstrated the will of increasing interaction between national societies and the European Cardiovascular Societies to promote the cardiovascular research towards the young community.
