this Image of the week contains an incorrect
interpretation. The ECG presented was inaccurately reported as Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome type A.
However, the correct interpretation of this ECG is an accelerated idioventricular rhythm that is slightly faster than the
sinus rhythm. The result of this accelerated rhythm is a mimicking of
ventricular preexcitation, when the ventricular beats pass the P waves.
However, a preexcitation can easily be ruled out by carefully looking at the
sinus cycle length, the ventricular cycle length and the inconstant PR interval.
