Focus on

Learning objectives

After watching this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • learn the principles of strain analysis by echocardiography and by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging; and
  • learn the main clinical applications of strain analysis of the different cardiac chambers (LV, LA, RV) and the specific values of the two different imaging modalities.

Needs assessment and expected educational outcome

Myocardial strain analysis is becoming part of a standard echocardiographic examination, including assessment of left ventricular (LV), left atrium (LA) and right ventricular (RV) function. Understanding the principles behind this analysis and the main clinical application is, therefore, crucial. Furthermore, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging can now provide myocardial strain analysis and is, therefore, important in understanding how and when this assessment is of additional clinical value.
