Learning objectives
After watching this webinar, participants will be able to:
- discuss diagnostic work-up of AHF and ACS during pregnancy
- manage ACS and AHF during pregnancy
- develop an emergency delivery plan
Need assessment
Both acute heart failure (AHF) and acute coronary syndromes (ACS) can complicate pregnancy and are an important cause of maternal mortality.
There are different causes of AHF and ACS occurring during pregnancy. Fast diagnosis is very important, and management should ideally be discussed within a multidisciplinary heart team. This webinar will address the diagnostic work up of acute dyspnea and chest pain during or short after delivery as well as management of both peripartal AHF and ACS. The audience will gain a better understanding of management of the acute cardiac conditions around pregnancy.
