Aims:
Participants should be able to discuss with their patients the available options for rhythm control of atrial fibrillation, including the benefits and any potential complications.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe appropriate indications for acute and long-term rhythm control approaches to atrial fibrillation
- Awareness of different anti-arrhythmic drugs, each suitable for different patient populations with specific precautions for use
- Develop an understanding of the role of catheter ablation in AF, including long-term outcomes
- Options available after failure of the chosen rhythm control strategy
