Summary

Organised in collaboration with Fundació Clinic per la Recerca Biomèdica (Clinical Foundation for Biomedical Research), this hybrid course will allow participants to develop an understanding of current hot topics in sports cardiology, from how to manage elite/amateur athletes with cardiomyopathies, to patients with cardiovascular complications due to COVID-19 infection that want to exercise. The course will be interactive and include clinical cases that will be discussed with the most well-known experts in the field from around the world.  



Learning objectives and programme 

After the course, participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate between the physiological and the pathological remodelling induced by exercise training
  • Understand the impact of gender, age, and ethnicity on exercise-induced cardiac remodelling
  • Evaluate and manage elite and amateur athletes with different cardiovascular diseases (both acquired and genetic) and provide them with tailored exercise advice
  • Know the cardiovascular side effects of the most-used doping substances
  • Recognise the potential consequences of exercising in extreme environments in athletes with cardiovascular diseases
