Consensus document on the training of interventional cardiologists to perform EVT in stroke

Interdisciplinary management of acute ischemic stroke: Current evidence training requirements for endovascular stroke treatment

New position paper on the training requirements for interventional cardiologists to perform endovascular stroke treatment is expected to be published soon

The ESC Council on Stroke has developed a training proposal in cooperation with the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI) and the European Board of Neurointervention (EBNI). This multi-society consensus document lays the foundation for a feasible training path for interventional cardiologists to learn the technics of endovascular stroke therapy, with the aim of providing a broader access to this highly efficient therapy, without compromising patient’s safety. The paper is expected to be published in early December in the European Heart Journal.
