New Concepts in Cardiac Regeneration part I: basic concepts

On Tuesday 17 September 2019 from 18:00 to 19:00 the first of two webinars planned by the WG on Cardiovascular Regenerative and Reparative Medicine together with the Scientists of Tomorrow was released online.

These webinars provide comprehensive talks on new concepts in cardiac regeneration, from experts in the field.  The audience has the opportunity to interact by sending specific questions by chat.

The first webinar was held by Dr. Nicola Smart from the University of Oxford, UK, and by Professor Javier Diez Martinez from the University of Navarra, Spain. The webinar addressed revascularisation strategies for the post-injured myocardium and how to target myocardial fibrosis, respectively.

Dr. Anke Smits, from SoT, chaired the session and the interactive discussion.

The webinar offered a comprehensive review of hot topics in cardiovascular regenerative medicine and critical discussion on the potential translational strategies to achieve the expected results in clinical trials. Be sure to register for part II, taking place on October 1st.
