A picture paints a thousand words and never has this been more true than in the imaging of tricuspid valves.
Although around 4% of individuals aged 75 years or older have clinically relevant tricuspid regurgitation (TR), interventions are underutilised due to increased surgical risk and late presentation.1 Transcatheter tricuspid valve interventions are now available to address this unmet need, but dedicated expertise and an interdisciplinary Heart Team evaluation are essential for the successful integration of these new techniques and for appropriate patient selection. Today, a Practical Seminar chaired by Doctor Nina C. Wunderlich (Cardiovascular Center Darmstadt - Darmstadt, Germany) and Doctor Hector I. Michelena (Mayo Clinic - Rochester, USA) will guide attendees through the process, focussing on the key role of imaging.
Firstly, Doctor Nina Ajmone Marsan (Leiden University Medical Center - Leiden, Netherlands) will explain how to select patients for TR interventions. Next, Professor Rebecca Hahn (Columbia University Medical Center - New York, USA) will describe how imaging should be used to guide the procedure itself. Doctor Nicolas Brugger (Heart Center of Bern - Bern, Switzerland) will then be on hand to discuss any of your questions.
Join the session as the spotlight on imaging continues today at ESC Congress 2022.
