Welcome to The ESC Textbook of Cardiovascular Medicine
Welcome to the online version of The ESC Textbook of Cardiovascular Medicine the official textbook of the European Society of Cardiology.
The online version contains all of the material presented in the printed version but complements the printed version by providing additional resources and features that enhance the learning experience for the reader.
The 36 chapters in the online version retain their basic structure. Each opens with a brief 'Summary' box detailing the scope of the chapter and ends with a 'Personal Perspectives' box in which the author outlines the state-of-the-art and future directions for the area. The online version, however, offers the following additional features:
- Searchable text
- References linked to PubMed
- Chapters can be downloaded in pdf format and printed
- Links to other medical resources, e.g. ESC Guidelines
- Library of medical video clips
- Database of figures from the book
The online version also allows the reader to take part in a CME-accredited self-assessment programme. This programme has been accredited by the European Board for Accreditation in Cardiology (EBAC) and the reader can obtain credits on a chapter-by-chapter basis by successfully completing the assessment modules. The accreditation of chapters by EBAC is an ongoing process and at the present time not all of the chapters have been accredited. Readers who register will be alerted to the accreditation status of other chapters when these are approved by EBAC.
