Turkish Society of Cardiology

Now with 1384 members, 10 Working Groups and Board Committees, it is the most active medical professional society in the country.

The Annual Congress is the most prominent medical event in the country and attracts nearly 3300 people.

The working groups perform numerous educational activities around the country throughout the year. In 2007, 8000 medical doctors participated in the 27 CME meetings and the annual congress (accredited by EBAC).

The Turkish Society of Cardiology has pioneered and completed the "National Heart Health Policy" at the end of 2006. The "European Heart Health Charter" was signed by the Ministry of Health, president of the National Assembly’s Health Commission and 8 other medical specialty societies in December 26, 2007. The Ministry announced the Strategic Plan and Action Plan based on the National Policy during the Signing Ceremony. TSC participates in all possible modules of the EuroHeart Health Project.
The Journal, Archives of the Turkish Society of Cardiology -indexed in PubMed, IndexMedicus, MEDLINE and IndexCopernicus- has been a regular, peer-reviewed journal accepting papers in Turkish and English.

The new headquarter of the Society is a 1500 sqm building providing office spaces, a lecture room for 100 people and additional meeting rooms. A team of 7 employees and a Press Relations Consultant under the management of the Chief Executive Officer provide professional service for all the TSC activities, national and international.

In 2005, more than 6000 medical doctors participated in the 21 CME meetings and the annual congress that was accredited by EBAC.

The Turkish Society of Cardiology has pioneered and completed the "National Heart Health Policy" text which was finalised in 2006.

TKD communicates on their next National Congress

The Turkish Society of Cardiology will hold its 25h National Cardiology Congress 22-25 October 2009 at the new Congress Center of Istanbul, European Capital of Culture 2010. There were 3520 attendees in our 24th Congress last year and we expect this figure to reach up to 4000 this year. Our Congress has been accredited by EBAC since 2006.

Our Scientific Committee started to accept international abstracts last year and 11 percent of the total abstracts received were sent by colleagues from different countries. The accepted abstracts will be published in the Special Supplement of our official journal "TKD Arsivi / Archives of the TSC" that is fully indexed in PubMed, EMBASE and IndexCopernicus.

We would like to invite you and your colleagues interested in sending abstracts in English through the online "Abstract Agent" module of our Congress web site until June 15, 2009; and articles through the online "Journal Agent" module of the "TKD Arsivi / Archives of the TSC".

On the average 50 percent of the abstracts and articles have been accepted in previous years by our Scientific Committee of the Congress and the Editorial Board of the "Archives of the TSC".
