New this year the ESC extended its reach across the world with the addition of eight new societies, marked in green on the map. Among them, as an Affiliate Society, was the Chinese Society of Cardiology.

The status of Affiliated Societies comes from the wish of the ESC Board to create a platform for National Societies and other professional bodies interested in cardiovascular medicine, based outside Europe and the Mediterranean Sea basin, to enable their closer collaboration with the ESC – more about the programme

Individual members of the Affiliated Societies are entitled to the same benefits as members of the ESC National Societies (European and Mediterranean countries) under the condition that they can provide written confirmation of membership – more about member benefits.
Affiliate status allows cardiac societies that cannot become members of the European Society of Cardiology for geographic reasons, to collaborate closely with the society and its constituent bodies. Any national Society or other professional body with an interest in cardiovascular medicine may apply to the ESC for Affiliated Membership - details on how to apply
