eLearning, professional unity and accreditation among new ESC President’s top priorities

Fausto Pinto, who became President of the ESC today, says plans to strengthen the accreditation systems in cardiology, the ESC eLearning platform and the role of the Society in Brussels will be high on his agenda:  'Why should patients accept treatment by doctors unless they’ve the confidence in knowing they’ve achieved pre-defined levels of proficiency.'

Adapting to a changing environment in research, education and technology

With medicine at a cross-roads for ‘critical change’, ESC President Professor Panos Vardas said it was ‘imperative’ for the Society to adapt to fast evolving modern environments.  Read more

Congratulations to the newly elected Fellows of the ESC
During the Inaugural session at ESC Congress 2014, 276 Fellows and 2 Nurse Fellows were officially welcomed to this prestigious community. Fellows of the ESC are recognised for their outstanding achievements and contributions to cardiology. Applications for ESC Fellowship to be presented at ESC Congress 2015 will close on 30 September. Affiliated Cardiac Societies

Developing collaborative relationships with ESC Affiliated Cardiac Societies - the main professional bodies within cardiovascular medicine based in regions outside Europe and the Mediterranean basin - is essential to sharing, learning and advancing the battle against cardiovascular diseases. 

There are 39 ESC Affiliated Cardiac Societies with whom the ESC is proud  to develop activities and partnerships.

Global Scientific Activities (GSA)

ESC Global Scientific Activities (GSA) is an international programme of ESC educational courses with outstanding ESC faculty joined by a host of international opinion leaders presenting:
  • Highlights from ESC Congresses and scientific meetings
  • New ESC Clinical Practice Guidelines  
  • Regionally relevant clinical case studies
