ESC Atherothrombosis Research Grants

Congratulations to the
ESC Atherothrombosis Research Grant Awardees of 2010!

APOSTOLAKIS Stavros (Greece)

POGGI Marjorie (Netherlands)

YOUSRY Mohamed (Egypt)

This grant was aimed at European cardiologists under 36 years of age who wished to undertake original basic or applied/clinical research in the area of atherothrombotic diseases in a European centre of excellence for a maximum period of one year. Secondary research projects such as meta-analysis projects were excluded.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be under 36 years of age.
  • Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of countries in the European Union or ESC member countries.

Level of support

  • 3 awardees were selected per year, receiving 50,000 Euros, until 2010.
  • The amount was expected to cover a fellowship of a duration of 12 months.
  • A given individual was not able to apply for more than one grant for the duration of the programme.

The funds must be used to support the awardees salary and the cost of consumables for the project but not equipment or other costs in the host institution.

The ESC would like to thank Schering-Plough (now Merck) for having made these grants possible.
