Dear Colleagues,
It is our great pleasure to invite basic scientists and clinicians interested in the field of fibrithnolysis and proteolysis to this congress.
Basic science and clinical investigations critically depend on each other and combined efforts are necessary to develop new strategies for the prevention and treatment of numerous diseases to which components of the fibrinolytic system, proteases, their inhibitors, receptors and cofactors contribute. Proteases and inhibitors play key roles in the development and progression of cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, cancer, neurologic disease, inflammation and embryonic development.
Therefore it will be our major aim to organize this meeting at the interphase of basic and clinical research thereby integrating basic and clinical research aspects in order to attract basic scientists as well as cardiologists, neuro-logists and haematologists/oncologists.
We hope that this approach will allow critical discussions and a fruitful exchange of ideas between these groups, which ultimately should lead to improve our strategies in combating the diseases mentioned above.

We are looking forward to welcome you and your colleagues in the beautiful city of Vienna in July 2008.
Yours sincerely,
Johann Wojta (President)
Kurt Huber (Vice President)
