Village 3 - Prevention / Rehabilitation / Sports / Nursing

 Coordinator: V Conraads (Edegem, BE)

"Interventional cardiologists and cardiac surgeons have embraced the concept of medically supervised exercise training programmes and have adapted the most recent European Society of Cardiology Guidelines on revascularisation accordingly. Leaders in the field will discuss whether or not, and how these guidelines should be put into place in a dedicated debate session.

Another highlight of the Munich congress with regard to prevention will concentrate on secondary prevention following myocardial infarction and will update the recently issued 2010 ESC/EACTS Guidelines.

The "Eat, drink and be merry" session, organized by the  ESC and the Interamerican Society of Cardiology will provide hard evidence to stimulate patients on how to adopt a healthy lifestlye, without turning exclusively to pharmacological therapy; being healthy can be fun!

Village 5 - Heart Failure / LV dysfunction

Coordinator: L Tavazzi (Cotignola, IT)

Welcome to the Heart Failure Village.
Heart Failure is a complex topic as it includes all “failures” of the efforts of medical science to prevent and treat the cardiovascular disease.

The best approach to Heart Failure investigation and clinical practice is to focus our attempts on “understanding”. Understanding what is going wrong and how we can impact on this. Understanding implies triple actions:
1) searching in the field of molecular biology
2) testing the clinical response to new treatments
3) capturing what is innovative and useful in the confounding ocean of new information.

Let’s try, all together to better “understand”!
