The focus will be mainly on the use of these devices in HF patients.
During the last 6 years the implantation rate of CRT-P increased by 50%, the ICD implantation rate was almost double from 2003 to 2008, whilst a dramatic increase was observed for CRT-D : 500% !!!
Teaching objective of the lecture:
Trying to choice the best device for any HF patient
Take home messages:
- The use of CRT-P will probably decrease in the next few years
- The use of CRT-D is dramatically increasing
- In the next future a part of "conventional ICD" candidate could be implanted with a CRT-D
