  BEAT IT!

 BEAT IT!

The Beat It! campaign started with the support of the European Heart Rhythm Association to reduce the impact of sudden cardiac death. “Beat It!” aims to cut the incidence of sudden cardiac death by public education and the greater availability of portable electronic defibrillators able to diagnose and treat the potentially life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia.

The Beat It! campaign has already seen visible results in the congress’s host city of Berlin, where portable defibrillators have been placed in shopping centres, theatres and metro stations - as part of a joint initiative of "Lions Clubs International" and the "European Heart Rhythm Association".

In support of the Beat It! campaign, Richard von Weizsäcker, past Mayor of Berlin and past President of the Federal Republic of Germany, will address the congress during the Sudden cardiac death and cardiac arrhythmias: Beat It! session on Monday 22 June from 14:00 to 15:30.
