Myocardial Function
Connecting basic and clinically-oriented scientists with interests in all aspects of myocardial

The ESC Working Group on Myocardial Function is among the earliest Working Groups of the ESC and was founded more than 40 years ago.
The idea of the founders was to create a platform in which both basic and clinically-oriented scientists with interests in all aspects of myocardial function could meet in a friendly and stimulating atmosphere. This remains the current ethos of the Working Group, which focuses on the molecular, cellular and integrative mechanisms underlying physiological function and malfunction of the heart. |
We therefore believe that our Working Group is the ideal one for anyone interested in applying knowledge of fundamental cellular and molecular processes to the integrative biology of the heart, both experimentally and clinically.
The special character of this Working Group might be best exemplified by the annual spring meeting where both young and established scientists present and share their data in a highly interactive and stimulating environment, resulting in many fruitful discussions and collaborations. In addition, with a strong emphasis on translational research, we encourage collaborative and mutual initiatives of all stakeholders in cardiovascular medicine, e.g. the industry.
Taken together, our Working Group offers a unique combination of excellent state-of-the-art science, fun, friendship and collaboration.
