7th Annual Winter Research Meeting on Translational Basic Science
This 2.5 day event is a high-quality meeting on Integrative Basic Science relevant to Heart Failure, comprising a maximum of 110 participants.
Attendees are made up of members of senior scientists who are invited as faculty and winners of the abstract selection process. The event does not have open registration.
The Scientific programme, including abstract presentations, is now available.

In order to confirm presentation and your attendance at the congress, please complete the steps below.
Step 1: Select and confirm the details of the presenter.
You will also be able to view the abstract presentation time and format.
Step 2: The presenter selected in step 1 will receive instructions by email to submit the agreement form.
All selected abstracts will be presented either in Oral or Poster presentations. Oral abstract presentations should last for 15 minutes. Posters should be 220cm (wide) x 120cm (high). Precise details are available on your abstract agreement form.
Note that we only allow one abstract per presenter.
The HFA will cover hotel accommodation, meals and bus transfers between Geneva airport and Les Diablerets. However, travel expenses cannot be endorsed by the HFA of the ESC. An email will be sent with logistical information to all successful abstract presenters.

Last year's Meeting took place in Les Diablerets from January 26-29 2011. You're welcome to read the report below.
This is now widely regarded as the premier meeting of its type in Europe with presentation and highly interactive discussion of the very latest advances in the field. The meeting has a very special ethos being limited to just over 100 participants split approximately 50:50 between senior PIs and younger researchers/students selected through independent peer review of submitted abstracts. The more junior investigators and students have excellent opportunities for formal and informal scientific interactions with senior faculty.
This year's meeting was no exception and was judged highly successful by the participants, a typical feedback comment being “this is the best meeting that I have been to in the last 12 months”. Scientific sessions included cardiac growth regulation, cardiac regeneration, emerging technologies in cardiovascular biology, microRNAs, cellular crosstalk, and atrial fibrillation in heart failure.
The Brutsaert Lecture was delivered by Mark Anderson (USA) who discussed calmodulin kinase II as a potential therapeutic target, while the ESC Basic Cardiovascular Council Lecturer was Andrew Baker (UK) who talked about gene therapy.
There were 54 abstract presentations and a very keenly contested young investigator competition in which the first prize was awarded to Michael Kreusser (Germany) and joint second prizes to Alessandra Ghigo (Italy) and Yassine Sassi (Germany). Highlights from the meeting will be included on the programme for the ESC Annual Congress later this year.
