Committees
Following the creation of the Heart Failure Association (HFA) of the ESC, several innovations have been introduced: Develop HFA-activities bottom-up, through the formation of Committees.

|
|
- Patient Care
The committee on Patient Care aims to improve the organisation and content of multidisciplinary clinical care throughout the patient’s journey, focussing on patient well-being, reducing morbidity and prolonging survival.
- Acute Heart Failure
The HFA Committee on Acute Heart Failure promotes, coordinates and oversees study and research on the epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis and management of Acute Heart Failure in order to improve patients' outcomes.
- Heart Failure Surveys & Registries
To promote surveys/registries on heart failure in ESC countries, in order to improve the knowledge of the management of this disease across Europe
- Online Education
The goal is to improve the implementation of the latest heart failure guidelines regarding diagnosis, treatment and management of patients. The format will be interactive e-learning courses that will be hosted on the HFA website and freely accessible for all HFA members as well as accredited for Continuing Medical Education (CME).
- HFA-Industry
To improve heart failure care through awareness, education and research among the public, patients and their healthcare providers and decision makers.
- National Heart Failure Societies
To create a European network of national heart failure societies or working groups, in order to improve the management of patients with heart failure.
- Translational Research
To promote the development, application and translation of basic science knowledge to clinically relevant questions and targets in the field of heart failure.
- Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction
The committee on “Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction” of the Heart Failure Association of the European Society of Cardiology promotes, coordinates and oversees study and research on the pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of “Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction” within the Heart Failure Association of the European Society of Cardiology.
- External Affairs
To promote heart failure research in EU funded projects.
To interact with Heart Failure Societies outside Europe.
Study Groups
- Peripartum Cardiomyopathy
We aim to establish a platform where current knowledge on peripartum cardiomyopathy, based on experimental and clinical studies, is summarised and regularly up-dated.
- Exercise Training
To develop, promote and coordinate common initiatives on physical conditioning as a key component of the comprehensive management of heart failure
