Aims and content
case-based course: cases are presented by a faculty member and worked-out in interaction with the audience, focusing on both diagnostic and therapeutic aspects.
the cases are supplemented by short slide-presentations, highlighting some aspects and/or literature evidence. Two parallel projections facilitate this way of teaching. A switching board will be available so that each faculty’s PC/Mac can be directed to any of the 2 projectors.
there is a schedule (i.e. which topics will be addressed during the different half days), but the exact cases presented may vary, depending on what the faculty members feel as the main interest of the audience during the ongoing course. This means that there will be more cases available than will actually be presented.
the cases are available in a booklet for the attendees at the beginning of the meeting; the attendees can make notes during the course next to the slides in the booklet.
interaction with the audience will be stimulated by voting. The results are shown anonymous.
apart from regular cases, also cases with a pacemaker/defibrillator programmer (coupled to a patient simulator) will be used. The screens of the programmer and patient simulator are projected. The simulator is universal, but it will be coupled to programmers and pacemakers/ICDs of different manufacturers. This universal approach is a unique setting in device education.
