Dear Members of the ESC Working Group on Atherosclerosis and Vascular Biology,

Hope you have had or are having a great end of summer or start of autumn!

It was wonderful to see many atherosclerosis and vascular researchers at ESC Congress this year in Amsterdam! Our Working Group gave two awards for the best abstracts in the field:

  1. Dr. Xiaoqun Wang (Rui Jin Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, Shanghai, China): Increased 12/15-lipoxygenase by disturbed flow promotes endothelial dysfunction and the development of atherosclerosis
  2. Dr. Julian Uwe Gabriel Wagner (Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany): Vascular senescence controls the neuro-cardiac interface in the aging heart

We are also happy to announce that two excellent scientists of our atherosclerosis and vascular biology community received the Outstanding Achievement Award from the ESC Basic Science Council: Profs. Dorothee Atzel and Yvonne Döring.

If you missed some sessions at ESC Congress, you can have a look at their recordings on ESC 365.

Here we enclose a photo of many of the nucleus members, when attending the Basic Science Council networking event.
