Arteries, from head to toe

Training course of the Working Group on Aorta & Peripheral Vascular Diseases

A rich training program including Interactive Cases & Hands-on Training Sessions for an updated management of peripheral artery diseases.

Over the last few years, the Working Group on Aorta & Peripheral Vascular Diseases has boosted its activities thanks to its pivotal role in the development of the 2011 and 2017 ESC Guidelines on Peripheral Arterial Diseases, and the production of highly cited position papers and consensus documents.

Recently, the Working Group has moved on organizing educational initiatives, including live webinars and its first Educational Training Programme "Arteries, from head to toe".

Course objectives

The Educational Training Programme provided physicians with up-to-date knowledge of peripheral artery disease in order to guide management.

Eight sessions were provided including hands-on sessions with the purpose of:

  • Clarifying diagnostic processes, including differential diagnoses
  • Giving a critical review of revascularization strategies
  • Describing current guidelines about medical and invasive therapies
  • Reviewing the basics of ABI assessment and vascular imaging
