Mission Statement

To promote the valorisation of basic and clinical science knowledge to diagnostic or therapeutic applications in the field of heart failure.

Establish close interactions between companies, researchers and clinicians to advance novel  diagnostic and therapeutic targets and strategies into clinical application in heart failure.

Activities are focused on advancing novel targets identified by companies and basic and clinical researchers into therapeutic application in heart failure.

    • Organize workshops to address important translational research topics related to heart failure, its co-morbidities and underlying causes.
      • Closely interact with companies involved in drug development.
      • Stimulate interactions between basic and clinical researchers.
      • Stimulate entrepreneurship and valorisation (patents, licensing technology to industry)
    • Promote the network development and interaction of European experts in heart failure.
      • Catalyse and facilitate the development of Europe-wide research proposals
      • Interact with other HFA Committees and ESC Working Groups where appropriate.
    • To provide input into the HFA Research Fellowships schemes
    • To provide input for the programmes of the HFA meetings, including the yearly HFA congress, HFA winter meeting, and HFA summer meeting.

      • The Committee holds annual one-day workshops on a translational topic in Brussels
        • Past topic in March 2014: Treatments targeting inotropy.
        • Next topic in 2015: targeting fibrosis in heart failure.
      • Following the Workshop, a Consensus Statement or Position Paper summarising the outcome of the workshop is written
      • Organise an educational course/seminar on valorisation and entrepreneurship.
