EAPCI - First certified in interventional cardiology
The first certificate of excellence in training in interventional cardiology was awarded to Doctor Marc Hartmann from Thorax Centrum Twente in Enschede, the Netherlands during the ESC Congress 2014 Inaugural session.

eLearning, professional unity and accreditation among new ESC President’s top priorities

Fausto Pinto, who became President of the ESC today, says plans to strengthen the accreditation systems in cardiology, the ESC eLearning platform and the role of the Society in Brussels will be high on his agenda:  'Why should patients accept treatment by doctors unless they’ve the confidence in knowing they’ve achieved pre-defined levels of proficiency.'

ESC introduces five new practice guidelines, with a range of tools for everyday application

This year's ESC Congress will see the launch of five new ESC Guidelines: Non-Cardiac Surgery, Acute Pulmonary Embolism, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, Aortic Diseases and Myocardial Revascularization.  The guidelines were developed by expert Task Forces under the governance of the ESC’s Committee for Practice Guidelines. All in all, more than 100 experts are involved in the development of each one.   Read more & access the Guidelines

The Core Curriculum of the European Society of Cardiology aims to provide an agreed framework for the purposes of training doctors in the specialty. Furthermore, it provides a basis for the development of continuing medical education (CME) for trained, practicing Cardiologists.

14th Cardiovascular MRI Workshop - CMR IN HEART FAILURE
This Athens based workshop provides an varied program with interactive cases.

02 October - 04 October 2014
EHRA Cardiac Pacing, ICD and Cardiac Resynchronisation in RUSSIAN
Covering pacing, ICDs and CRT, this course will be directed by Doctor Haran Burri and will be combined theoretical lectures, troubleshooting case presentations and mock exams. This course will be in Russian with simultaneous translation from English.

09 October - 11 October 2014
Basic Invasive Cardiac Electrophysiology
The cases are supplemented by short slide-presentations, highlighting some aspects and/or literature evidence. Interaction with the audience will be stimulated by voting. The results are shown anonymous.
