Dear Members,
This newsletter finds us in April, with Spring on our doorstep. Like in gardening, the time to actively prepare for everything we aspire to achieve the coming year and successfully bring it to fruition. Following the nucleus meeting in February where we discussed topics like the membership model, upcoming plans for consensus papers, meetings and grant possibilities etcetera, the executive committee (consisting of the Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Communication officer) discussed the plans and required budget with the ESC during our quarterly review.
One important topic is membership. At present, we have 823 members (258 female, 565 male) amongst which 282 members are below 40 (WGT Young researcher group, 113 female, 169 male).
Please note that we have taken the decision to postpone our EuroThrombosis & EuroVessels to October 2022. To remain connected with our members this year, we are planning other online activities (webinars, online event in the Fall...) - more news will follow!
Finally, we would like to draw your attention to the Aspirin foundation. Aspirin is one of the first drugs to come into common usage, with herbal roots dating back to written history as early as 2000 BCE. The Foundation was established in 1974 and exists to increase knowledge, understanding and medical interest in aspirin by sharing information, encouraging discussion, and inspiring collaboration and future research. Since 1992, the foundation supports biennial awards to recognize both emerging and established investigators. This year, entries for the emerging aspirin investigators are welcomed until June 30th. Check the website for submission and evaluation criteria.
On behalf of the Executive committee of the working Group nucleus,
Gemma Vilahur, Chairperson, and Heleen van Beusekom, Communication Coordinator 2020-2022
