ESC Working Group on on Myocardial and Pericardial Diseases

Dear members,

Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the organising and scientific committee, it is a pleasure to invite you to the 16th Annual Conference of the Working Group (WG) on Myocardial and Pericardial Diseases of the European Society of Cardiology that will be held in the Attica 21 Hotel in A Coruña, Spain, on October 4-5, 2019.

In 1993 and 1996, Manuel Penas Lado, Alfonso Casto-Beiras and William J McKenna co-organized the first International Workshop on the Cardiomyopathies and the III international Meeting on Advances in Cardiomyopathies and Ventricular Dysfunction in our city. In 2010 we organized the third WG meeting in A Coruña: “The frontiers on Myocardial, Pericardial Disease and Ventricular Dysfunction”. This year we are committed to emulate the success of those meetings and keep shining the fire that Manuel, Alfonso and Bill lit in the house of the most ancient Roman lighthouse still working in the world.

This 2-day meeting of the ESC Working Group on Myocardial and Pericardial Diseases aims to communicate progress in basic science and practical management of myocardial and pericardial diseases to a broad audience with an interest in the conditions including physicians, specialist nurses, clinical researchers, pathologists, geneticists, basic scientist and young investigators. The meeting will focus in the live and interactive discussion of clinical cases, and will try to facilitate the participation of both the senior and young clinical experts and researchers. The meeting program will cover most of the hot topics in genetics, imaging, clinical management and therapies in cardiomyopathies, myocarditis and pericardial diseases.

A Coruña is the city were no one is a stranger. We are sure you will enjoy it!

Best regards

The ESC Working Group on Myocardial and Pericardial Diseases Nucleus
