Dear Members of the Working Group on Coronary Pathophysiology and Microcirculation,
It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that we send you an update on the recent and upcoming activities of our working group.
On November 26th 2018, a Joint meeting of the ESC Working Group on Coronary Pathophysiology and Microcirculation and the German National Institute for Cardiovascular Research was organised. This was a one-day symposium on “Coronary Pathophysiology and Microcirculation in Acute Coronary Syndrome and Heart Failure” organized in conjunction with colleagues from the DZHK (“Deutsches Zentrum für Herz-Kreislauf-Forschung”), partner site Berlin. Four scientific sessions with excellent lectures and lively discussions focussed on the importance of large and small vessels in vascular health and disease, including acute coronary syndromes and heart failure, and of novel imaging applications in the study of microcirculation. Read the proceedings of this joint meeting here.
Next April, we will participate in a joint ESC WGs symposium on "Endothelial dysfunction" during the ESM-EVBO Meeting in Maastricht between the 15th-18th April 2019. This is an activity of the “Multi-Disciplinary Collaborative Programme” coordinated the Working Group on Atherosclerosis and Vascular Biology, with the participation of the Working Groups on Aorta and Peripheral Vascular Diseases, Coronary Pathophysiology and Microcirculation, and Thrombosis. Dr. Daniejela Trifunovic (University of Belgrade, Serbia) will participate as invited speaker representing our Working Group.
Just finishing the year, an expert position paper of our group on “Depression and Coronary Heart Disease” has been accepted for publication in the European Heart Journal. We hope to share the manuscript very soon with all of you!
