ESC Working Group on Atherosclerosis & Vascular Biology

Dear members of the ESC Working Group on Atherosclerosis and Vascular Biology,

Atherosclerosis is not only a central process in coronary artery disease, but also in cerebrovascular disease and stroke. Our WG has a representation within the ESC Stroke Council, which recently organized an excellent conference on Heart & Stroke, illustrating the broad implications of atherosclerosis in cardiovascular disease and the importance of translational research in this domain.

The WG is also expanding its collaborative networks across the Atlantic, with an upcoming session co-organized with the Council on Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology of the American Heart Association. The theme of the session is Vascular Immunity, Inflammation and Thrombosis and will take place during the Vascular Discovery: from Genes to Medicine Scientific Sessions 2020.

The WG is also proud to present its own Symposium, organized prior to the FCVB congress in Budapest, Hungary, on Single Cell Techniques in Atherosclerosis. Take the chance to learn about the basics and the cutting edge of this hot topic as presented by world-leading experts in the field. It will also be an excellent opportunity to meet and interact with your fellow WG members. Note down April 23 in your calendars for this Symposium and hurry up to register. Looking forward to meeting you there!

On behalf of the Working Group nucleus,

Magnus Bäck

Chair WG Atherosclerosis and Vascular Biology
