ESC Congress 2017 - Press Schedule

ESC Congress 2017 will be held 26 to 30 August in Barcelona, Spain

Sophia Antipolis, 23 June 2017: The press schedule for ESC Congress 2017 is announced today. Journalists are invited to attend 6 hot line session press conferences including a Clinical Trial Update and a Late Breaking Registry Results and 3 press conferences with the themes:

  • Cardiac Interventions – Expanding Applications
  • Living Longer – Tips and Tricks
  • Cholesterol Lowering – Reality Check and New Directions

The world's largest and most influential cardiovascular event features 500 expert sessions over five days. More than 500 journalists and 32 000 healthcare professionals from 140+ countries are expected to attend.

“40 years of PCI”, the spotlight of ESC Congress 2017 will highlight the impact coronary intervention has had on all fields of cardiology. Professor Stephan Achenbach, Chair of the Congress Programme Committee, said: “Percutaneous Coronary Interventions have had a tremendous impact on all aspects of cardiovascular care. These far-reaching transformations will be outlined with up-to-date presentations of leading interventional cardiologists from all over the world.”

40 Late breaking science presentations throughout the programme including  21 Late Breaking Trials which will be presented in the Hot Line Sessions (4 sessions) and 12 Late Breaking Registry Results which will be presented in Hot Line Sessions (2 sessions)

New this year a dedicated Late Breaking Science Moderated Poster Session on Sunday & Monday will be featuring an additional 14 trials / research and the opportunity to interact directly with the investigators around the poster.

Novel science will also be revealed in the abstracts, of which the best have been selected from more than10800 abstract submissions.

Some 150 cardiovascular topics will be explored, with new tracks added on cardiac surgery, e-cardiology. The latter will highlight state-of-the-art technologies in cardiology such as remote monitoring in heart failure, mobile health for hypertension control, and computer modelling in electrophysiology.

Once your badge has been printed you will have automatic access to our exclusive web page for on-site press, where you will access all the available embargoed material.

We strongly encourage you to apply online to get your 2 years press accreditation before registering.

For press representatives who are already accredited as press but have not yet registered to the ESC Congress 2017 please do it in order to be able to collect your badge on-site.

Press representatives can also register on-site at the Press Registration desk upon presentation of:

•    A valid press identity card or appropriate letter of assignment
•    Three recent published articles (cardiology or health-related, or referring to a previous ESC Congress).
•    A filled in and signed embargo form available here


PRESS FACILITIES AND SCHEDULE
The ESC provides a fully equipped Press Centre (Level 1) and dedicated facilities for approximately 500-600 journalists attending ESC Congress 2017. This includes a Press Working Area, a Conference Room and two Interview Rooms for registered press.
The Press Conference programme will begin on Saturday 26 August 2017 at 11:00 (Opening Press Conference) and continue throughout ESC Congress 2017.

PRESS MATERIAL
This year, press releases will be available here when the embargo lifts and under embargo on a USB key and on the Exclusive web page in advance only for on-site press representatives.
No more paper version will be made available on site but e-printers will be displayed in the Press Working Area.

GETTING TO FIRA GRAN VIA
“El Prat” is the main airport serving Barcelona and is located 12 km from the Congress venue: Fira Gran Via.
The closest Metro stops are Fira (tunnel directly into venue) or Europa Fira (5-minute walk).

NEW EMBARGO RULE THIS YEAR
For Hot Line Studies, Basic and Translational Science, Clinical Trial, Registry Update, Oral and Poster abstract-based presentations: the embargo is lifted at the start of the scientific session in which the concerned presentation/study is scheduled.
