EAPCI Board 2018-2020 Elections

Important elections for the new Board of the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI), which will take office and serve your Association for the period May 2018 - May 2020 under the presidency of Prof. Andreas Baumbach (UK) will take place in February 2018.

Eligibility criteria to apply

Eligibility criteria to apply as EAPCI President-Elect, Secretary and Treasurer are defined by the EAPCI Constitution:

  • Only EAPCI members holding voting rights may stand for EAPCI Board positions.
    A member is considered eligible for voting after three (3) months of membership at the date of the opening of the elections (i.e. member since 30 October 2017) and active in an ESC Member country (i.e. having a business address in an ESC Member Country)
  • There can be no re-election to the same position.
  • Candidates for the position of President-Elect must be currently serving or have served in the immediately preceding Board. The elected candidate will automatically become President two years later.
  • Candidates for the positions of Secretary and Treasurer must be currently serving or have served in any of the preceding Board.
  • Candidates to EAPCI Executive Committee positions who have not been elected are not eligible to stand for elections for the 4 subsequent years.
  • Previous elected members of the Board can re-apply for a position on the Board four years after their initial term (except for Secretary and Treasurer which can apply for President-Elect).
  • The President may not stand again for any elected position within the Association.
  • The President, President-Elect, Treasurer and Secretary should not hold an executive position concurrently (President, Vice-President, President-Elect) in a National Society or in the European Society of Cardiology with the exception of the ex-officio voting position within the ESC Board (President)

In addition, a letter of recommendation by a National Society or Interventional Working Group is mandatory for any of the 3 elected positions.

Download and then complete the application form and send it, along with a letter of recommendation by a National Society or Interventional Working Group to by 15 December 23:59 CET.


What happens next?

  • The applications will be reviewed by the Nominating Committee of the EAPCI who has the responsibility to propose a balanced list of candidates for all positions, ensuring a cross-section of members from different countries and with different interests.
  • Candidates might be invited to meet via phone conference with the EAPCI Nominating Committee as part of the final selection process. The date will be confirmed in due course.

Important dates

  • 30 November: Deadline for applications
  • Extended deadline to apply: 15 December 2017, 23:59 CET
  • Mid January: Nomination candidates by Nominating Committee (phone or video call)
  • 30 January – 30 February: Online voting*
  • 22-25 May: Announcement of results and effective change of Board at EAPCI General Assembly at EuroPCR 2018.

* As per the EAPCI Constitution, to be eligible to vote, individuals should meet all the following criteria: Being an EAPCI member only as of 30 October 2017 and be active in an ESC Member country.
