Learning objectives

Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is a multi-faceted secondary prevention intervention that aims to limit the physiological and psychological effects of cardiovascular disease and to assist in the management of symptoms and a reduction of future cardiovascular risk. CR has been shown to reduce mortality, hospital readmission rates, healthcare costs and also to improve exercise capacity, quality of life and the psychological well-being of patients. CR is internationally recommended although referral and uptake remain sub-optimal and variable across Europe. This webinar will examine current cardiac rehabilitation practice, its’ underpinning scientific evidence and the related practice recommendations.

At the end of this webinar participants will be able to:

  • Have an understanding of current recommendations for cardiac rehabilitation practice and the scientific evidence underpinning this
  • Have an awareness of current challenges in cardiac rehabilitation delivery
  • Have potential strategies to encourage and support the delivery of effective cardiac rehabilitation in clinical practice
