More about ACCA
The Israeli Working Group on Acute Cardiac Care and the Israel Heart Society announced with profound sorrow and shock the untimely death of Dr. Avi Shimony, one of the leaders of acute cardiac care in Israel and an active member of ACCA.
Dr. Shimony joined the ESC-ACCA in 2015. He was part of the National Societies Relation Committee and provided a valuable contribution to the projects of the group. He was especially of outstanding help in the working group on Intensive Cardiac Care Units. Capitalising on his teaching expertise, he contributed to the ACCA exam MCQ bank, a demanding task. He also participated in the Examination committee and in the Membership committee and took active parts in the Israeli ACSIS registry, in the Tel Aviv acute cardiac care meetings as well as in recent ACCA congresses.
His qualities, reliability, the high level of his contributions and his dedication to the projects of the ACCA brought him gratitude and a deep sympathy from the ACCA group.
Dr. Shimony was an exceptionally dedicated and able physician. He was loved and admired by patients, team members, and his colleagues. His premature death left all who knew him deeply saddened. He left a wife and three daughters.
Dr. Shimony will always be remembered in the ACCA as a kind, energetic but soft speaking and smiling friend.
ACCA promotes research and education and spreads knowledge of new and emerging science in the field of acute cardiac care.
