Recognition for Established Specialists in Acute Cardiovascular Care

As a Silver or Gold member of the Acute Cardiovascular Association (ACCA) of the ESC, senior cardiologists are entitled professional recognition in the field of Acute Cardiovascular Care, on the basis of their experience and expertise.

This unique and prestigious recognition is granted for life and delivered by the Acute Cardiovascular Association.

Who can apply?


  • Cardiologists with at least 10 years of experience (excluding training period)
  • Cardiologists with 5 years working in a leading position in the field
  • ACCA Silver or GOLD members only

How to apply?

  • Step 1: Submit your application (e-form) along with all the relevant supporting documentation
    • All fields must be completed
    • All documents listed below must be attached and written in English
      1. Curriculum vitae
      2. Relevant clinical experience and current working practice
      3. Most relevant publications in the field
      4. Motivation letter
      5. Evidence of 10 years experience in ACC or 5 years as a chief /director of an ICCU/CICU
      6. Evidence of medical (MD) degree (or equivalent)
      7. A letter of recommendation from an expert in the field of ACC
      8. A letter signed and stamped by the current Director of the Cardiology Department/Service for specialists or by the Director of the Hospital for ICCU/CICU directors, confirming that all information in the application is accurate including contact information from director (original document can be scanned)
  • Step 2: After successful upload you will be transferred to the My ESC Log in page, to proceed with the payment. Candidates must complete full payment to validate their application and trigger review process
    • ACCA Silver members: 550€
    • ACCA Gold member: 500€

If incomplete or not compliant when submitted, the application will automatically be rejected

When to apply

  • Applications can be submitted throughout the whole year
  • Submissions will be evaluated on a monthly basis
  • Process from submission to result notification may take 60 days

What comes next?

  • Once submitted, your application will be reviewed by the ESC Education department who will check that all required documents are enclosed
  • Once validated, your application will be reviewed and graded by two members of the ACCA Education committee
  • You will be informed (notification by email) of the decision regarding your application within 45 days after submission
    • If successful, you will be able to pick up your diploma at the next ACCA or ESC Congress - ESC Stand (contact
    • If rejected, you will be notified about reason for failure and will be invited to re-submit or activate appealing process. Your payment will be 90% reimbursed (10% kept as administration fee)
