Call for Applications for the Editorship of the European Heart Journal

The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) seeks applications for the new Editor in Chief (EiC) of its flagship publication, the European Heart Journal (EHJ)

With the extraordinary leadership of the incumbent EiC, Professor Thomas Lüscher, and his editorial team, the EHJ has become the highest ranked cardiology journal in the world. This is a unique opportunity for an equally impactful and imaginative individual to lead the journal in shaping cardiology’s future.

Applicants shall prove to be innovative leaders in the field of cardiology, committed to maintaining EHJ’s success and standing in today’s increasingly competitive publishing environment. The new EiC will support the overall mission of the ESC to ‘reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease’ by furthering the journal’s contribution to cutting-edge research and future clinical practice.

The ESC is interested in receiving applications from candidates with:

  • Substantial track-record in cardiology and extensive experience as an author, reviewer and editor/associate editor
  • International reputation as a distinguished clinician, clinical investigator, and educator
  • Broad clinical and research interests in the entire field of cardiovascular medicine
  • Global network in the field of cardiovascular medicine
  • Strong editorial judgment and ability to anticipate key trends in cardiovascular research and practice
  • Experience in leading large teams
  • ESC membership
