Step Into Your Future with the ESC

The ESC is not just a congress – it’s here all day, every day – as a community to support your daily work and sustain your professional journey.

Whatever your role or rung on the career ladder, the ESC keeps you informed and connected all year round, with a wide array of events, resources and opportunities to advance your knowledge and help you stay one step ahead.

Climb the ESC steps:

Experiences: ESC congresses and events are truly unique experiences and are where the ESC and our subspecialty associations come to life! ESC Congress is the flagship event, but did you know there are many other congresses throughout the year, which help you to delve deeper into each subspecialty? ESC congresses are places for you to get inspired, recharge, build your confidence and to meet colleagues from around the world.

Decision-making support: Regularly revised by experts in their fields, ESC Clinical Practice Guidelines offer an integrated evidence base to help you weigh up the benefits and risks in your clinical decision making. In addition to the full text reprints of the ESC Clinical Practice Guidelines, you can use the ESC Pocket Guidelines (pick up your copy during the congress!) and the Pocket Guideline App, plus tune into webinars throughout the year for practical insights on how to apply the guidelines.

Knowledge: Incredibly, medical knowledge doubles every 73 days – compared with every 50 years in 1950 – but only some of these new findings will be relevant for you and your career. This is a challenge for busy healthcare professionals, so to help you focus on what you need to know, the ESC provides a suite of journals and textbooks along with its knowledge hub, ESC 365 – keeping you on track and up to date.

Cardio Insights: You’ve seen the data at a congress, you’ve read the latest papers in an ESC journal, but what does it really mean for you and your patients? Experts bring you their opinions and insights on the hottest topics throughout the year in easy to digest bite-size formats, including ESC TV, the ESC’s podcast series, Cardio Talk, and the new ESC TV Today programme, which launches this September on World Heart Day!

Education: Because you never stop learning, education is the bedrock of everything the ESC delivers for its members. Driven by leading specialists in cardiology, the ESC’s education programmes are interactive evidence-based support for your continuing medical training. Whether it be through the eLearning platform, live classroom learning, webinars or the ESC Clinical Case Gallery, you can learn at your own pace and in your own space.

Data: Data are the key to unlocking better ways to diagnose and treat patients, which is why the ESC collects and analyses data through the ESC Atlas of Cardiology, registries (the EURObservational Research Programme) and EuroHeart. By evaluating gaps and trends across Europe, these insights are then used to advocate for better CV health policies and research funding at a national and EU-wide level.

Community: Most importantly, the ESC is a community – it exists because of its members and for its members. At the heart of the ESC are 29 subspecialty communities, 57 ESC National Cardiac Societies and 48 ESC Affiliated Cardiac Societies. Overall, the ESC unites more than 100,000 individual members – scientists, clinicians, nurses and allied professionals – across all subspecialties and career stages.

Build the ESC future: As you step into your future with the support of the ESC, would you also like to help build the ESC’s future? There are currently 2,000 CV health professionals who give their time and expertise – find out how you can become involved by visiting the Cubes in the Lounge & Exchange Area.
