OUR MISSION: TO REDUCE THE BURDEN OF CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE
The EACVI Club 35 is the most vibrant community of young imaging specialists in the world. Established in 2010, we now have over 800 active members from over 72 different countries. The only requirement is that members are no more than 35 years old. Our main aim is to better approach the needs and wants of the young community interested in the field of Cardiovascular Imaging, provide access to high quality educational and training resources, as well as give the opportunity to network with established experts in cardiovascular imaging.
I see the major benefit of joining as the camaraderie from like-minded individuals and the immediate access to a network of more senior colleagues offering free career and training advice. Additionally, the EACVI Club 35 members are eligible for a special EACVI membership fee of just € 35 annually, with benefits including full access to a growing list of online educational resources, online subscription to the European Hheart Journal - Cardiovascular Imaging , and reduced fees for the Euro-Echo-Imaging Congress, EACVI certification exams and teaching courses.
We have representation throughout the EACVI Committees, including Education, Research & Innovation, Certification and Accreditation, Scientific Documents, EuroEcho-Imaging Scientific Programme and Web & Communication, ensuring our voice is always heard throughout the EACVI at every level.Amongst our recent achievements was the highly successful special track of over 50 educational sessions specifically designed for young imaging specialists at last year’s Euro-Echo-Imaging Congress. We also have a record 41 appointed EACVI Club 35 Ambassadors in the world, representing the interest at national level of their young communities and being the main point of contact between the young doctors locally and the EACVI Club 35 committee.More recently, one of our biggest achievements has been the launch of the first EACVI Training Grant programme which offers financial support for a period up to 6 months to help young candidates under 35 years old to develop their skills in a high standard clinical centre or University. This year we have also updated our online directory of European laboratories offering research and clinical training opportunities to cover all imaging modalities (echocardiography, CT, CMR and nuclear). This directory encourages young doctors to get experience in other countries, secure solid expertise, and facilitates future international research collaborations. Finally, the EACVI Club 35 is committed to being up to date with social media and therefore at the ESC Congress 2013 in Amsterdam, we launched a ‘LinkedIn’ platform to facilitate networking and direct communication. The EACVI Club 35 LinkedIn platform currently has 1012 subscribers with daily updates, news and debate. It is the fastest way to grow your network of contacts for career advice, future training opportunities and collaborations.
The European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) has now evolved into a multi-modality Association through collaboration of the former European Association of Echocardiography (EAE), the ESC Working Group on Nuclear Cardiology & Cardiac Computed Tomography (ESC WG on NC &CCT) and the ESC Working Group on Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (ESC WG on CMR). Therefore, the EACVI Club 35 also encompasses all cardiac imaging modalities. Naturally, there is a historical legacy of emphasis on echocardiography which we are keen to redress by encouraging members from CMR, CT and Nuclear backgrounds to join this vibrant group. With regards to CMR we are particularly seeking members willing to contribute to developing an online presence of educational resources, interactive learning tools including mobile apps and to act as faculty speakers at future educational events. Please join today - and if you are specifically interested in fostering the growth of CMR within the group, get in contact directly via the LinkedIn network!Dr Manish Motwani EACVI Club 35 Committee Member – CMR representative
