Step 1: Review the scientific Programme
Determine which sessions you plan to attend. You can consult the Scientific Programme and Planner (SP&P) or ESC Congress Mobile App, available early March with the Scientific and Educational Programme. Abstracts & industry-sponsored sessions will be available early May.
Choose those sessions and presentations that will most benefit you, your team, and your organisation.
Each of the 500+ sessions gives invaluable knowledge for you and your team to improve efficiency in daily practice or research. You can estimate the value of a session by translating its description and learning objectives into real-life implementation within your team.
Step 2: Prepare your motivation letter
A written document will help you explain the many reasons why you should attend the congress and how your organisation will benefit from your attendance.

Nurses & allied professionals, benefit from a lower fee to attend ESC Congress. (nurses can also compete for Awards through their abstract submission).
Day tickets allow you to discover the congress for at least a day of sessions, networking and education.

Presenters of an accepted abstract or case and coming from countries with low and middle-income economies, members of the ESC: Egypt, Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan get a free registration.
Delegates who need financial support to attend the congress are advised to look for funding from their own institutions, training centres or other sources in their own country.

Basic Science Travel Grants
Basic scientists whose abstracts are accepted for ESC Congress 2020 are welcome to apply for a travel grant.

ESC Congress Educational Grants
All healthcare professionals in the cardiovascular field who are ESC Professional Members are eligible to apply. Priority will be given to applicants who are the first author of research submitted to ESC Congress 2020 as well as individuals from low & middle-income countries members of the ESC. Successful applicants will receive €850 as a contribution towards the costs of travel and accommodation and free congress registration.

Under 40 yrs. old? some additional opportunities for you:
- ESC Professional Members under 40 yrs. old benefit from a special registration fee starting at €370.
- ESC Professional Members who are abstract or case presenters under 40 yrs. old with an accepted abstract get a special registration fee starting at €195.
- Young Investigators can compete for Awards through their abstract submission. Presenters with an abstract accepted in a Young Investigator Awards session receive a free registration to the Congress. The ESC will grant each winner with a prize of €2,000 and finalists will each receive a prize of €1,000.
- Presenters of an accepted clinical case: The four best cases will be presented in a special session. The ESC will grant the winner with a prize of €2,000 and finalists will each receive a prize of €1,000.

Take some time to review your original objectives and assess how you will be able to apply what you learned in order to either:
- provide cost savings to your institution or organisation
- offer innovative ideas to increase revenue generation
- obtain tools to increase your team’s efficiency and improve patient care.
Keep up your network. Cooperate on papers and find new co-authors for next ESC Congress.
