Travel to and around Florence

With over 16 million tourists visiting Florence each year, the city has developped the infrastructure to travel comforably to and from Florence from major European cities.

By plane

Fly to Firenze Airport (Amerigo Vespucci) with direct flights to the European hubs: Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, Frankfurt, Geneva, Lyon, London (City, Gatwick), Madrid, Paris, Vienna, Munich.

It is also possible to land at Pisa International Airport “Galileo Galilei”, connected in 50 minutes to the Florence Central Railway Station by a very comfortable shuttle train, which has an hourly frequency. From the airport to the city centre

The airport is located just outside the city:

  • By taxi: all drivers operate a flat fee of 20€ to the city centre (20 minutes approximately outside rush hour)
  • By bus: non-stop service between the airport and the central train station Santa Maria Novella in 20 minutes

By train

You can also chose to arrive by train: Florence is well connected with Direct FrecciaRossa trains to the central station Santa Maria Novella

  • From Rome: 90min, frequency twice an hour
  • From Bologna: 37min, frequency twice an hour
  • From Milan: 1h45min, frequency every hour
