EAPCI Women Committee

The EAPCI Women Committee gathers cardiologists and health professionals in the field of interventional cardiology. They work and share knowledge on current gender-related disparities at the university-to-work transition, develop strategies in the field of education, professional development and research in order to attain gender equality in interventional cardiology at professional and patient level.

Gender issues & future challenges

Nearly 60% of the medicine students are women

Approximately 90% of interventional cardiologists are men

  • The number of female interventional cardiologists stays in contradiction to the fact that the majority of medical students are women.
  • There are still persistent gender-related differences in mortality and mortality of CAD is based on under-diagnosing and under-treatment of CAD in women
