The Israel Heart Society held its 58th Annual Conference, in association with the Israel Society for Cardiovascular Surgery on 4-5 May 2011 in Tel Aviv.
The meeting was very well attended by some 1,300 local and international delegates.
The scientific program included 362 original abstracts covering all aspects of clinical and basic cardiology.
In addition a number of plenary sessions were held, in which a number of distinguished speakers gave invited talks.
The Henry Neufld Memorial lecture was given this year by Dr. Barry Maron (US) who gave a brilliant overview of the past, present and future of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
The joint IHS-ESC session was devoted this year to coronary artery disease.

Prof. Christian Hamm from Germany discussed insights
from the SYNTHAX trial. Prof. Keith A.A. Fox from the UK discussed the current role of revascularization, Prof. Dan Tzivoni from Israel gave an overview of silent myocardial ischemia.

Prof. Harvey White from New Zealand spoke of the new high sensitive troponins. The meeting also included a very successful joint session with the ACC, chaired by the ACC's Immediate Past President, Dr. Ralph Brindis, and Prof. Gad Keren, President of the IHS.

This session included outstanding talks by Dr. William Abraham, Dr. Barry Maron and Dr. Amir Lerman from the US as well as Dr. Jean Francois Obadia from France and Dr. Andre Keren from Israel.
The meeting also included a traditional and exciting joint session with AFICARDIO, covering various aspects of coronary artery disease.

The Israel Heart Society is grateful to all local and international delegates who participated in the exciting congress and particularly to the excellent invited faculty who helped make this meeting a great success. Preparations for their next meeting (16-17 April 2012)
are underway and they look forward to welcoming an even larger local and international audience next year.
