Activities
The Chilean Society of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery (SCCCC) has 4 regional branches and 5 committees in the areas of accreditation, ethics, scientific, continuous education and finances. There are also 10 departements, in the main areas of cardiology, developping research, courses and scientific courses throughout the year and during the annual meeting.
The Health and Heart Foundation, aiming to develop public activities on prevention, is also part of the SCCCC. Activities include celebrationa of World Heart Day, the Women in Red campaign (WHF) and other activities for the general public during the annual meetings.
2 research grants and several research awards are given yearly.
Meetings and courses
The annual meeting takes place every year early December in different cities and welcomes more than 800 participants.
In addition, several coursed are proposed both in Santiago and in the regional branches ever year.
Publications
The Revista Chilena de Cardiologia has been published since 1988, when it replaced the Boletin de Cardiologia (published since 1982). There are 4 issues a year and a print run of 1000 copies - an electronic version is available on the SCCCC website for members and registered users. The language is Spanish but with abstracts in English.
