Activities

The Society’s main activities involve:

  • development of guidelines for practice
  • maintenance of professional standards
  • organisation of the largest medical meeting held in our area (approximately 2000 delegates) held annually
  • funding and mentoring of research scholarships and travelling fellowships to encourage young investigators
  • promotion of excellence in cardiology for both physicians, nurses, allied health workers, researchers, scientists, etc
  • to provide advice to Government on the development and descriptors for new item numbers and to advise on issues related to cardiolog
  • to administer training of cardiology through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

Publications

Journal

The Society’s Journal is Heart Lung and Circulation published by Elsevier.  It is currently published bi-monthly with 3 supplements per year.  We anticipate that it will move to monthly publication in 2009.
