Can I become a FESC?

All professionnals having a genuine interest in the discipline of Cardiology and showing dedication to the ESC and its activities can apply for the ESC Fellowship. The candidate must prove scientific or clinical excellence in cardiology.

How can I apply for the ESC Fellowship?

A candidate should submit an application online on the ESC Web Site Fellowship application pages before the annual deadline: 30 September.

What are the application requirements?

Documentation required:
Please note that all supporting documents must be provided in English

Copy of academic diploma (MD., PhD. or equivalent): If not originally in English, translation is mandatory

Publications record of the applicant: pasted (copied, printed) directly from PubMed, Web of Science or Scopus international scientific libraries (must include all authors as they appear on these web libraries). Other (eg self-typed) publications lists will not be accepted
 
1 supporting letter: from a President of a National Cardiac Society or a President of an ESC Association or a Chairperson of an ESC Working Group

Short CV in English


All elements referred to above are mandatory. The ESC Credentials Committee will reject candidates who do not supply all these elements.

When should I submit my application for the ESC Fellowship?

The application procedure is available online from June to 30 September. The applicant must submit the application before the annual deadline: 30 September.

If I submit an application am I automatically a FESC?

All applications are evaluated by the ESC Credentials Committee on case by case basis. Therefore, documentation such as copies of academic or National Cardiology Diplomas, publications, supporting letters, and CV are required. The candidate is informed about the application status (elected or rejected) by the Fellowship Department in November.

I submit my application to become a FESC, when should I be notified?

Applications are evaluated by the ESC Credentials Committee during October. The applicant is notified in November by email.

How much is the annual Fellowship fee?

The annual Fellowship fee is 400 Euros for the Fellows and 200 Euros for Nurse Fellows. 

When do I have to pay?

The yearly Fellowship fee is 400 Euros, and covers the period of 1 January to 31 December (year N+1).

Newly elected FESC receive the request for payment in November (year N). The request for payment is mailed and the payment must be received before 30 November to ensure the delivery of the selected Journal early January (year N + 1).

Payment should be preferably made online.
Therefore, once paid, newly Fellows start to benefit from the Fellows privileges.

What are the FESC privileges included in the fee?

Central role within the ESC: Leaders within the ESC are selected from the Fellowship Community. ESC Fellowship is a “conditio sine qua non” for an active leading role within the Society.

I have been elected FESC this year, where can I collect my Fellowship Diploma?

The Fellowship Diploma is collected during the ESC Congress. Prior to Congress, newly elected FESC are informed about all details concerning the ceremonies dedicated to this event.

I have been elected FESC this year, I am not attending the ESC Congress, where can I collect my Fellowship Diploma? 

After the ESC Congress, FESC diplomas which have not been collected are sent by surface mail. However, the ESC is not responsible for any damage during posting or for a FESC diploma lost.

I do not find the contact details of a FESC in the Fellows Directory

The European Society of Cardiology fully complies with the French Laws represented by CNIL (Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés) and European authorities regulations related to personal data protection. FESC that did not submit their agreement do not have their contact details published in the Fellows Directory online.

I do not have access to the FESC services online

All Privileges and services online are included in the annual Fellowship fee, once paid.

How can I register to the ESC Congress?

You may register online by selecting: FESC & NFESC (0€).
You will be registered as FESC and receive the FESC Gold Badge.

What are the conditions to become an EFESC?

The status of Emeritus Fellow is conferred by the ESC Credentials Committee upon written request of the Fellow when he/she reaches minimum age of 65 years, and retires from full-time work. Proof of retirement should be provided to the Membership Services Department.
