A twin approach has been adopted :1. A flexible and non permanent Project structure, enabling the best clinical and scientific expertise in a given project field to be established for the duration of the defined project. This would cover the Project Expert Committee group.
2. A permanent core structure at the Heart House consisting of operational management, site relationship coordination and central database expertise, providing the constant quality control and continuity necessary to underpin such a business and to ensure that the projects are completed on time and on budget. This covers the Euro Heart Survey Committee and the Euro Heart Survey Department staff at the Heart House.
Both of these structures may have an interface with the clinical sites selected throughout Europe. The sites enrolled into a particular project are selected by the Scientific Expert committee, the National Co-ordinators and the Euro Heart Survey Department. ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of the different parts of the organisational structure may be defined as follows: 1. Euro Heart Survey Committee o Chaired by a Board Member o the Euro Heart Survey Operations Manager acts as Secretary o Determines strategy and direction for the selection of projects, including negotiation with other parties if involved o Determines timeframe and funding parameters for each project o Liaison with other Board Committees (e.g. Committee for Practice Guidelines (CPG) responsible for releasing Guidelines) and the Working Groups of the ESC o Decides budget for different surveys 2. Project Expert Committeeo Chaired by Project Chairman with appropriate experts from the particular field o Determines all clinical and scientific objectives and parameters of the programme o Proposes budget for funding of Project o Drafts Protocols and review Questionnaires o Responsible for statistical analyses plan and reporting for each Project o Issues final report 3. Euro Heart Survey Department o Manages survey logistics o Acts as primary interface with the participating centres o Ensures site training, quality control, management support, communications, trouble shooting o Ensures that a full set of S.O.Ps is in place and is regularly updated o Manages all financial and budget aspects o Negotiates and controls all contracts o Manages the Central Database o Liaises with each project team on data gathering and reporting o Marketing and promoting the EHS business opportunity to potential partners o The Euro Heart Survey Operations Manager is Secretary of the Euro Heart Survey Committee 4. National Co-ordinators(In co-ordination with the EHS Board Committee and each Project Expert Committee)
o Represents Euro Heart Survey at a national level through the national cardiac society, o Proposes, co-ordinates and supports activities of national centres and investigators, o Co-ordinates national cardiovascular registries with EHS, o Advises on national rules and regulations, o Ensure quality control of national data, o Communicates to National Societies boards and members as well as other national organisations, o Finds national funding, o Participates in the site selection, o Is an active member of the Euro Heart Survey
