Protocol summary

Coronary angiography is performed to confirm / exclude the diagnosis of coronary artery disease, to assess prognosis and to select the optimal medical or interventional therapy. Coronary angioplasty and bypass surgery provide relieve of symptoms, and may improve prognosis in selected patients with coronary disease.

Objectives of the survey:

Learn the main indication for coronary intervention, the referral pattern from / to other hospitals, estimate the number of procedures, the waiting period before procedures and the possible complications.
Some other objectives were defined:

Regarding coronary angiography

  • Major findings (extend / severity coronary disease, left ventricular function)
  • Previous non-invasive and invasive procedures including exercise testing, stress echocardiography, nuclear imaging, etc.
  • Implications for patient management (PTCA, surgery)

Regarding coronary angioplasty

  • Procedure (balloon, stent, atherectomy, other)
  • Concomitant medical therapy
  • Proceeding + subsequent medical therapy
  • Procedure result, hospital outcome, follow up

Regarding coronary surgery

  • Procedure (1-3 vessel, additional surgery)
  • Previous / subsequent medical therapy
  • Hospital outcome, follow up
